Dr. Osolika is a qualified emergency medicine physician with direct clinical experience across shipboard, expedition, aeromedical and remote-care environments. His credentials include medical qualification (MBChB), active medical registration, and hands-on practice in maritime, offshore and isolated clinical settings. The Ship Doctor was built from the realities of working far from specialist backup — where escalation, documentation, communication and practical emergency readiness matter.
Mission
Why The Ship Doctor Exists
Maritime medicine is not hospital medicine. At sea, "transfer to ICU" may mean a helicopter range calculation, a weather window, a captain's decision, and an oxygen cylinder count. The nearest specialist may be 500 nautical miles away.
Clinicians working in isolated environments — on ships, offshore platforms, expedition vessels, and remote sites — need tools built for the reality of isolated care, not adapted from hospital corridors.
The Ship Doctor exists to close that gap: clinical tools, escalation frameworks, documentation support and career resources designed specifically for ship doctors, nurses, medics and remote clinicians.
What We Build
A live app, and the references behind it
The Ship Doctor app is live on the App Store and Google Play. It is an offline-first emergency medicine simulation and reference tool: 150+ emergency scenarios with changing vitals and branching decisions, an ECG library with quizzes, POCUS practice, clinical pathways and calculators, and role modes for doctors, nurses, medics and students. Core training and references work offline after setup; installation, purchases, restoration, updates and some account services require internet access.
Alongside the app sit the written references — the Maritime Medicine Playbook and Interview Command Guide, the free Red-Zone Card, and the Career Hub for clinicians moving into maritime and remote roles. The app is where you rehearse decisions; the documents are what you keep open on the desk beside you.
None of it is accredited training and none of it awards certification or provider credentials. It is simulation and reference material for clinicians who are already qualified, and for students preparing for the settings where help is far away.
